NCDP Announces Contingency Plans Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

The North Carolina Democratic Party prudently announced contingency plans to its Plan of Organization and its Democratic National Convention Delegate Selection Plan, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

On March 18, the NCDP State Executive Council unanimously approved a resolution to postpone all County Democratic Conventions and all Congressional District Democratic Conventions. County Democratic Conventions will now be held on April 25 and Congressional District Democratic Conventions on May 16. All conventions will now be held via virtual format. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate via teleconference or online videoconference.

The recently announced contingency plan further authorizes the Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party to amend the order of business to be conducted at each County Democratic Convention and Congressional District Democratic Convention. It is expected that all conventions will operate on a limited agenda, due to technical limitations related to videoconferencing software. For more information on these contingency plans, please visit the North Carolina Democratic Party website.

In a time of such uncertainty, it is critical that we all join in the effort to limit the spread of misinformation relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please consult fact-based resources from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Resources and the Centers for Disease Control for current guidance and the latest developments. Please also note, North Carolina school districts are actively implementing programs for the distribution of meals to area children while schools are closed. North Carolinians should consult their local school boards for more information.
